Elegant yet dainty at its core, the Aster is a beautiful daisy-like flower with yellow centers and ray-like petals. There are an estimated 180 different species of Aster, varying in different hues of purple, pink, blue, white, and yellow. Part of the same family as Sunflowers, the Aster's name originates from the Greek word for "star" as a reference to the flower's star-shaped flowerheads. The uniqueness of the Aster or Sunflower family is that each flower is composed of many small flowers in a disk-like flowerhead. Even the petals are individual flowers.
Asters are often considered a symbol of elegance, love, and patience. Additionally, each color holds further meaning. Purple, the most common Aster color, also symbolizes wisdom and nobility while white is a symbol of purity and innocence.

Materials: The Aster Double pendant is cast in hand patinated bronze with a pale purple cast glass flower with a 24kt gold plated center.

Measures: 16" - 18" L (adjustable); Pendant: approx 1" L

By Michael Michaud

The Michael Michaud Design Jewelry Collection, designed by Michael Michaud, is a world-renowned collection of botanical jewelry. It captures the beauty and exquisite detail of nature using soft patinas on bronze accented with pearls, beads, stones, and more. His attention to intricate detail results in true to nature, botanical jewelry. This unique jewelry is made by creating molds directly from botanical elements in a process similar to lost-wax casting. While traditional lost-wax casting begins with a hand-carved model of wax, Michael Michaud instead uses an actual leaf, branch, or flower in place of the wax model. A mold is created around the botanical element and, as it is heated, the plant matter burns away and leaves behind a beautifully detailed mold of itself. Michael Michaud Jewelry is renowned for its beauty and workmanship and is featured in the finest museums, galleries, and specialty retailers around the world. Many collections are commissioned by leading museums such as The Victoria & Albert Museum, The Art Institute of Chicago, The National Gallery of Art, and the Château de Versailles.
