Lovelight Slip Dress w/ Whimsical Woodland Deer by Market of Stars

Introducing the Lovelight Slip Dress, an enchanting new piece from our much loved collaboration with magical artist Charles van Sandwyk. A world-renowned illustrator and writer, van Sandwyk is beloved for his luminous, old-world drawings and watercolors, bringing to life fairies, woodland creatures, and the secret corners of nature with a sense of wonder and nostalgia. His work, reminiscent of classic Golden Age illustrators, is steeped in folklore, whimsy, and an almost-forgotten gentleness. We are deeply honoured and overjoyed to be collaborating with Charles, whose work has long been a meaningful source of inspiration for Market of Stars!

This reversible piece was created using a collage of several pieces of Charles’ work, including a majestic guardian swallow carrying a lantern that cradles a glowing star adorned on one side of the bodice and a delicate watercolour moth fluttering on the other, while a star-dappled fawn nestles in the moonlit woods on the front of the skirt. The hem is edged with a piece of Charles' own poetry: I had a dream in dark of night, before the hills were kissed with light.

Like so much of Charles’ work, Lovelight is a tribute to the radiance each of us carries within — the love, empathy, and creative spark. It is the glow of a lantern swinging in the night, the starlight on the path, and the soft brilliance of a heart that chooses kindness.

The adjustable straps, oversized cut, and soft, flowy bamboo viscose make our Bohéme dresses a wardrobe staple for layering, running errands, dancing, lounging or napping — and they’re also a must-have for travel, wherever you roam. You can also wear this piece two ways, with the watercolour moth or the magestic guardian swallow on either side — depending on your mood.

Please note: The nature of our soft bamboo/wood viscose means it’s slightly sheer, so we recommend layering it with our Étoile slip (or any other slip you have) when wearing it with bare legs. Our model in the photos is wearing the dress without a slip.

100% viscose (derived from plant fibres such as bamboo and wood). Machine wash gentle or handwash and hang to dry. Iron to finish if needed.
